Bengkulu 2025
Bengkulu 2025: Dark Timber & Raw Wild Honey
Sourced from the wilderness of Sumatra, this 2025 vintage presents an authentic, unvarnished portrait of Aquilaria agarwood. Distilled in a full stainless steel pot and apparatus without prior soaking, this release skips the chemical softening of copper to capture the raw, untamed essence of the wood. The result is a darker, more linear, and deeply atmospheric profile defined by raw forest honey, bitter-sweet cacao, and heavy Sumatran timber.
The Scent Journey
The Opening: Dark Wild Honey & Dry Spice
The oil glides onto the skin with an instant, focused wave of dense wild honey and dry spice. It opens with notes of raw, unrefined forest honey, crushed nutmeg, and a whisper of toasted clove bark. The stainless steel apparatus keeps these top notes sharp, dark, and remarkably direct.
The Heart: Bitter Cacao & Dark Plum
As the initial spice settles, a shadowy, mouth-watering core takes center stage. Deep layers of raw cacao nibs, dark dried plums, and a touch of bitter-sweet resin unfold. Without the rounding effect of copper, the heart feels darker and more authentic showcasing the true, rustic character of Sumatran Aquilaria.
The Base: Heavy Cedar & Moist Jungle Canopy
Because this oil was distilled from fine shavings rather than dense log wood, the drydown remains clean and wearable without heavy, suffocating smoke. Instead, it rests on a solid foundation of dark, dry cedarwood, crisp resinous sap, and the subtle, grounding nuance of a damp jungle floor leaving a long-lasting, dark wood footprint on the skin.
